For weeks I have been following every rumor every leak and every story about the new iPhone. The excitement has been building and with the official launch I can finally talk about my first impressions of the iPhone 17 Pro Max. This is not just a simple update it feels like a whole new direction and I am happy to share what I have discovered about all the new things.
The First Impression Of iPhone 17 Pro Max – The New Look and Feel
The first thing I noticed when I got my hands on the iPhone 17 Pro Max was that Apple went back to an aluminum frame. After two years of titanium they made a choice to return to a lighter more classic material.
I was a little skeptical at first but the moment I held it it just felt right. It is lighter and more comfortable to hold for a long time which is a huge benefit for a phone this big.
The design also has a new forged plateau that holds the camera system stretching all the way across the back. It is a really striking visual change and from what I understand it was an intentional choice to make room for a bigger battery and a better cooling system.
These are the small but important features that make a difference in daily use.

Now let us talk about the camera. This is without a doubt the star of the show. Apple has gone all in on the 48 megapixel sensor making it the standard for all three back cameras the main the ultra wide and the telephoto.
The new 48MP telephoto lens in particular has a much bigger sensor and gives you an incredible 8x optical zoom. I have already tried it out and the clarity and detail you can get from far away are astounding. It feels like having a professional camera in my pocket.
Apple also added ProRes RAW support and a new dual video recording feature which lets me film with both the front and back cameras at the same time. This is a big win for people who create content and anyone who loves to make videos.
iPhone 17 Pro Max Battery
Finally the battery performance is something I was really watching closely. I am happy to report that the rumors were true this phone has the largest battery ever in an iPhone.
While Apple does not share the exact number the official information says you can get up to 39 hours of video playback.
This is a huge leap and from my first tries it feels like I can easily get through a full day of heavy use including gaming streaming and lots of social media with plenty of power left over.
The improved efficiency of the new A19 Pro chip also plays a big part making sure that every bit of power is used as effectively as possible.
The combination of a bigger battery and a more efficient processor makes this the most reliable iPhone I have ever used.
Overall all the new things on this phone are a big step forward.
From the improved camera and amazing battery life to the better design it feels like Apple is really pushing the limits of what a phone can be.
